“Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.”
Proverbs 4:7 KJV
Hi! My name is Brandon Wood, and this is my blog “The Principal Thing.”
My desire to start this blog began when I was about 15 years old. I remember being given the task, in my youth group at church, of reading through the book of Proverbs in a month. We were supposed to read seven chapters per week and come back to the next class prepared to answer questions and discuss those chapters. I went home from church and read the entire book on the first night.
It was the first full book of the Bible I had read, and I loved it. By the end of the month, I had read the whole book of Proverbs five times! I learned so much about what the Bible had to teach, and I set out to learn more from it.
I had such admiration for Solomon and the other wise men who wrote the book of Proverbs that I prayed for God to make me like them. I wanted to be wise.
My goal with this blog is to get wisdom and share what I find.
Where to begin:
The goal of this blog is to gain wisdom. The first step to gaining wisdom is understanding the truth. Much of what you’ll find in these articles is an investigation into the truth using two main channels: The Bible and Philosophy.
My article about the nature of “Truth” itself is a good place to start. Here I discuss what truth is, why investigating the truth is never something to shy away from, and that the truth, if it is indeed true, can stand up to the tests we may throw at it.
After that article, check out my other posts about the Bible and Philosophy.
